This poem was sent to us from a teacher of a young skateboarder named Ethan.
Ethan is a young skateboarder like many others, in which he's had some difficult times in school and has been struggling with a few classes. Ethans teacher was so impressed with his passion for skateboarding and his ability to put it to words that he wanted to share it with us. Ethan also likes Marrada Skateboards.
Keep up the great writing Ethan, and keep skateboarding!
Skateboarding
By Ethan L.
I’m riding over the cracks on the sidewalk heading to the skatepark. I take
a deep breath. I lick my lips. It tastes moist and bitter. The wind in my
face. I give my skateboard one more good push and the sound of the wheels
hitting the cracks sounds like a drum – ca bum…ca bum. The vibration on my
feet. The soreness every second pushing off. I bring down my knees and
press my back foot down and push my front foot up. The feel of my body in
the air feels great. I land smoothly and bring my knees down once more. I
push off again and slide on all four wheels. I come to a stop. One foot
off, one leg up, then bring it down fast as my foot hits the tail of the
board and brings it right to my hands. I catch it and say, “That was fun.”
Skateboarding.
